Filie Features

Filie is a secure, cross-platform file transfer app featuring end-to-end encryption and offering convenient system integration. You can use Filie wherever you see the Share button, making Filie a seamless experience from inside practically any app.

We Do Not

• Bundle any other software with Filie
• Change any default settings (DNS, browser, etc)
• Require an account or social media login

Permissions

• We request Push notification permission to send you a notification when there is an incoming file tranfer. You can also receive notifications on changes to groups you are in.
• Discover local network for discovering other Filie devices on the network, making it easy to set up favorites and transfer files for free locally.
• Read access to Photos. We don't actually need this permission on iOS because we use a plugin that just gives us the files you select, without ever giving us access to Photos itself.
• Write access to the appropriate folders. On desktops that is the Downloads folder. For Android, the downloads/filie directory. For iOS we expose our Documents folder externally, making it viewable publicly from other apps.
• Camera access if you want to scan a QR code. Feel free to grant it once as required; we don't need it all the time.
• Android only - Sign in with Google to preserve your device information between reinstalls. This is an optional feature that backs up your device information to your own Google Drive. It is not stored with us.

Filie uses fast, strong encryption technology to securely transfer files, photos, and videos between devices. There are no sign-up requirements. Filie is always free when the two devices are on the same local area network, including cross-platform transfers. A low-cost subscription is available for Cloud transfers, which securely transfers files between devices regardless of location.

No one can decrypt your files. Only the two devices know the shared key; it's derived and never transmitted by either device.

You may want to give your device a friendly name, or just leave it as is. Device discovery is automatic. To use Filie, simply install the app on your devices, launch it, select the files or photos to transfer, then select the destination device. We securely transfer the files to the destination device.

When complete, you can save to Photos from our own Share button, or click Done.
